about

In 1921, a mob of police enabled white Tulsans destroyed what was known as Black Wall Street - a thriving community of black-owned wealth. Those who were murdered and/or had their property destroyed were never given any compensation for what they lost.

lyrics

1921, burned my city down
But they weren't done
With my hometown
No, it's no secret
This was the plan all along

Don't give me sympathy
with no remorse
It's been a century
with no recourse
an entire lifetime
Seeing you for who you are

I've been asleep, but I'm waking up
It seems to me that enough is enough
Those who came before have shown us the way
And so today we're not here to play

How many of my kin have you sent to your mass grave?
I'm not pushing your cotton gin, I am not your new slave
I am the change I want to see
and I will say their name
Oh, say their name

I've been asleep, but I'm waking up
It seems to me that enough is enough
Those who came before have shown us the way
And so today we're not here to play
Say their name
Say their name
Yeah, say their name
